Screening summary:

“Why did all you Brits vote to Leave the EU?”

That was the question frequently asked of filmmaker David Nicholas Wilkinson, shortly after the 2016 EU Referendum vote when he attended the Creative Europe Co-Production Dinner at the Galway Film Fleadh in Ireland along with filmmakers and executives from many other EU Member State countries.

His reply was that he hadn’t and neither had over 16 million others, but he was concerned that if people in the media thought the vote had been a landslide then so many others would think the same.

He decided in Ireland the UK’s nearest EU neighbour to make POSTCARDS FROM THE 48%, a feature documentary, for the other 27 EU Member State countries to show them that over 16 million British people value our association with them and greatly appreciate the contribution each of them, and their citizens, have made, not just to the UK economy but to our culture as well.

Talking to public figures and private citizens alike, POSTCARDS FROM THE 48% aims to show why so many of us “remainers” are fighting so hard to stay part of the European Union.

The film features people from across the full political spectrum including – Sir Vince Cable MP, Catherine Bearder MEP, Nick Clegg, Ruth Cadbury MP, Baroness Wheatcroft, Baroness Bakewell, Baroness Kennedy, Bob Geldof, Alistair Campbell, Mark Durkan, Lesley Riddoch, Matt Kelly, Miriam Margolyes, AC Grayling, Sir Andrew Cook, Mark Constantine, Ian McEwan and many more.

It is filmed in Poole, Sheffield, Manchester, Norwich, Essex, Dover, Ebbw Vale, Criccieth, North Wales, Fife, Scotland, Derry, Bristol, Pettigo and London.
